DISTRICT TOBACCO PREVENTION PARTNER
Our tobacco prevention team is one of fourteen District Tobacco Prevention Partners (DTPPs) located across the State of Maine.
We work with our community partners to promote a tobacco-free lifestyle. Our efforts to educate and create healthier
environments are working to prevent youth from becoming addicted to nicotine, reduce secondhand smoke exposure for all,
and connect people to tobacco treatment supports to increase their chances of stopping successfully.
Help for Quitting Tobacco
We train social services providers to have brief, nonjudgmental conversations about stopping with those who use tobacco. We show them how they can easily connect people to treatment resources using a quick online referral process.
“I learned with assistance the quit rate is majorly increased. I’ll read more & then use [this] info”
-Crisis & Counseling Case Manager after training
Smoke-Free Places
We create tobacco-free policies tailored to schools and many other settings throughout the community. If you need help, contact us.
“Our team recently had the pleasure of working with Somerset Public Health … experts in implementing a Tobacco Free Workplace Policy. They made it easy … providing a small grant with a written template and free signage to display at our facilities…”
-Lindsay Skilling, CEO Gifford’s Ice Cream
